Tools

Generally, Duplo horseshoes are handled with the same tools as traditional metal horseshoes. There are, however, some situations for which the appropriate tools aren't present in a standard tool box. Furthermore, you find usual tools like rasps and nails in this category.

Spike Adapter

By means of this adapter and a standard cordless screwdriver, you can equip your Duplo Composite Horseshoe with up to eight Spikes.

Stud Tool Kit

If you want to change or remove studs regularly, we recommend our five-part tool kit with
• a masonry drill bit,
• two screwdriver bits (M8 and M10) and
• two thread cutters (M8 and M10).
You can use a standard cordless screwdriver for each of the tools.

If the thread is filled with a stud blank instead of a stud, you clean the hex hole of the stud blank with the masonry drill bit before removing the stud blank from the thread with the screwdriver bit. If necessary, you can tap the thread with the thread cutter.

Screw Retention

If you are not planning to change or remove the studs, you can add a drip of screw retention or superglue to the screw threads before screwing the studs into the horseshoe.

Drills

In case of some Duplo models, you can use additional studs by means of thread inserts and fitting drills.

Careful: The drill kit with a spiral drill and a center bit is suitable for thread inserts with dentelation which are placed in synthetic material. The counterbore cutter with distance piece is suitable for thread inserts without dentelation which are placed in a fitting hole of the metal inlay.

Hot-Air Gun

For applying colored stripes to the Duplo horseshoes, you need a hot-air gun and a fitting reduction nozzle.

Gloves

The thin, venyl coated nylon glove has an excellent fit and is very abrasion-resistant.

Hoof Rasp

The hoof rasp “Save-Edge”-Bellota is part of the basic equipment for every farrier.

Horseshoe Nails

You can use the same nails for the Duplo horseshoe as for traditional horseshoes if the nail head can't slip through the nail hole. We use, for example, the nail types E, ESL, VF and M.
